The Femforce is a government sanctioned crisis intervention team headquartered in Orlando, Florida. The original members, Miss Victory, She-Cat, the Blue Bulleteer and Rio Rita, met, and the team was formed by the United States government, during World War II. Over the years, the roster has changed. The Blue Bulleteer became Nightveil, Rio Rita retired, and Tara Fremont, Synn, and Stardust became permanent team members.
Miss Victory was the team’s leader until a deranged Black Commando overdosed her on the unstable V-45 drug from which she derived her powers. In her unstable state, Miss Victory became the villain Rad and General Gordon, who was in military command of the Femforce appointed the espionage agent, Colt, the Weapons Mistress, to head the team. However, a series of public relations miscues dogged the team during Colt’s tenure and, while the Weapons Mistress was not at fault, General Gordon decided to replace her as the Femforce leader.
Coercing Miss Victory’s daughter into becoming a superheroine, General Gordon installed her as the head of the Femforce to the disgust of the team. The new Ms. Victory was never fully accepted by her teammates even after she proved her mettle during the Shroud War. Soon after the end of the Shroud War, events caused Rad to transform back into a superheroine and she resumed her place as the leader of the Femforce and adopted her daughter’s updated name of Ms. Victory.
Her daughter was installed as the leader of a group of Golden Age heroes and heroines who had been revived from a Vault of Heroes. However, her new leadership role was short-lived as malicious forces caused personal tragedy which combined with a failing marriage to drive her over the edge until she took over her mother’s former name of Rad and became a loose cannon, out only for herself.
Meanwhile, her mother continued to lead the Femforce which again consisted of herself, She-Cat, Nightveil, Tara, Synn, and Stardust. The team was now under the military command of a female, General Strock, and officially recognized as the Federal Emergency Missions Force. In this capacity, they were often helped by Rayda, a human dynamo, who worked as an actress and stuntwoman. The Femforce has also become involved with a spirit named Firebeam who they are considering as a permanent addition to the team.
While they are the newest members of the Femforce circle, Rayda and Firebeam are not alone as friends of the Femforce. Garganta, a giant woman, is under their care and protection, and Buckaroo Betty , a heroine of the Old West who was transported through time, has become a constant companion of the team. Regardless of who is involved in their adventures, however, the Femforce utilizes team tactics and combined efforts to defeat their powerful opponents. They are truly the preeminent superbeings on Earth.
