The next two years saw great change and incredible events to behold. Isis roamed the lower kingdom proclaiming her commands and laws. Her usual tactic was the same she had employed at Oasis City. She appeared before any major settlement at a mind-boggling size announcing her intentions. This was followed by a brief demonstration of her power. Any military structure was crushed or stomped on. She would then demand a temple to be built to honor her. The entire lower kingdom was easily persuaded to follow her wishes. They really had no choice. Isis wanted to join the lower and upper kingdoms of Egypt into one land. This would end the wars and bring more resources available to the people. However, the Northern Kingdom was going to be much more resistant to change. Their rulers had declared themselves to be gods over their years in power. The populace firmly believed that their king, their god, had a divine power to be a ruler of the kingdom.
When Isis made her way into the upper kingdom, the smaller settlements easily accepted her. A couple of the larger cities sent out troops to repel her but a few quick stomps from her huge feet and a massive fist plowing into the larger structures and city walls, usually convinced the inhabitants she was not to be disobeyed. When Isis began her approach to the seat of power, the largest city in the upper kingdom, an entire army was there to greet her. Their god ruled this land and he was not about to hand over rule to a woman, not even a giant one!
The palace-city to the northern kingdom sat at one end of a wide valley near the Nile River. Isis was approaching from the other end. She was about as tall as eight good sized palm trees stacked on top of each other. Between her and the city was an army of sixty thousand men. To her, it looked like locusts covering the ground. As she stopped to survey this multitude, the horde of men instantly rushed to the attack. Although they were intimidated by her size, the soldiers were confident that she could be defeated. Their god-king had assured them that they would be triumphant. His promise of victory was all the courage they needed in battle. Isis stood still when she was rushed. A wave of small, tiny men surrounded her feet, stabbing, poking, and slashing. None of their weapons penetrated her skin. At her present height, her skin was thicker and stronger than an elephant's hide. The little men around her were just too weak to make their weapons effective. A cloud of arrows filled the sky. Some of the arrows stuck into the silk of her outfit. Isis watched with a bemused smile as tiny men climbed her feet and little chariots rushed forward with long lances and spears, all trying desperately to draw blood.
Isis defiantly put her hands on her hips and moved her right foot forward. In one small step, she crushed ten men! In another step she crushed twelve more, yet they still came at her. Bending down, Isis grabbed a handful of wriggling men and crushed them in her grip. She was starting to enjoy this! Ropes and grappling hooks snagged her skirt, top, and hair. Soldiers began to climb up her legs and torso. She immediately stood back up and began flicking the tiny men off her body like she would an insect. Some of the bodies would fly for quite a distance. Isis smiled and giggled at the attempts of the little men struggling to conquer her, this was turning out to be fun! The soldiers kept up the attack, as they were most fanatical. Despite her stomping and crushing, they still had faith in their king's promise of her defeat. An arrow managed to land in Isis's right eye causing instant discomfort. Out of reflex, Isis instinctively closed her eyes and snapped her head to the side. This caused her to lose her balance and fall backwards. Fifty men were crushed when she landed on her rear end. She almost fell all the way to her back but caught herself with her arms and elbows.
A massive cheer went up among the army; they had brought her down! Soldiers rushed her flanks from all sides, grabbing anything for a handhold and climbing on her. Isis quickly rose to her feet and shook off most of the men. Others that were hanging onto her clothes and hair, she flicked off or crushed one at a time between her fingers. She managed to remove the irritating arrow in her eye. As soon as she did this she felt more arrows strike her face. They were trying to blind her, a smart tactic, she thought, since she seemed invincible to the tiny army. The soldiers also tried lighting bales of straw around her feet to burn her. All she did was stomp out the small flames and flatten some men in the process. Although she found this resistance amusing, Isis was beginning to get bored by it all. She looked far down the valley at the city where she knew their small king would be watching the battle. It was time to show him and the northern kingdom her power.
The king jumped back in shock from his vantagepoint high up on his palace roof. Just moments ago, he watched gleefully as his men took down that monstrous woman who dared to call herself a goddess. Now he looked on in total bewilderment as Isis grew, and grew, and grew! When she stopped growing, even he seemed to be looking up at her from this great distance. She was taller than the mountains bordering the valley! He watched in horror as Isis lifted a massive foot and brought it down on his army. Hundreds died at a time as Isis stomped on the soldiers. Every time her foot fell, the king would feel his palace tremble. When it was over, a great cloud of dust hung about her feet. The king did not see any of his men come out of it. His army, sixty thousand of his best troops, was decimated with a few stomps from a giant woman! Isis had a big grin on her face as she started forward. This was the largest she had ever grown. The whole world seemed to be laid at her feet like a multicolored carpet! That insignificant army was stepped on like so many ants, now it was time to destroy the anthill. At her present size, the palace-city was not very far away. She reached it in just five steps. This city was eight times the size of her oasis city in the south kingdom. However, she was so huge that she easily straddled it. The king stood paralyzed with fear on his palace roof as a massive hand that blotted out the sun reached for him.
Isis easily identified the palace at the heart of the city. She reached down and carefully dug her hand into the very earth the palace rested on. Isis brought her little prize up close to her face to examine it. In her hand rested the entire palace to the northern kingdom! She laughed as she looked over the tiny structures and thought about the bumpy ride she must have given the king. "I am your goddess." She yelled. "I have come to change this land and your lives. You will obey me!" With that statement, Isis slowly crushed the palace complex in her hand as if it were a dry leaf. She then scattered its remains out over the city. Looking down, Isis gave a frown and commanded. "Everyone will leave this place for I will destroy it!" Everyone ran, terrified of the colossal woman standing over the city. The fact that their once vaunted army was now flattened into the valley floor and a tremendous crater exists where a massive palace once stood gave encouragement to many to leave without stopping to grab belongings. Although Isis waited a time to give most of the populace a chance to flee, death would still come to many.
Isis knelt down and dragged her huge fingers across the tiny structures, reveling at the destruction she was causing. She was in no hurry and found many different ways to crush, squeeze, and pulverize the buildings. She blew a great wind onto the city causing even the heaviest of stones and brick to be blasted away. All that was left when she was done was rubble. Not a single foundation was recognizable but even this was not enough. Isis then stood up and stomped her massive feet, crushing the city's remains into dust. When she was done shaking the earth, Isis walked a distance along the Nile. Even its mighty waters were a mere trickle to her. In a lush, green plain, Isis stopped and drew a great circle in the earth. Her tremendous finger gouging out an enormous trench. She then announced, "This will be the site of the new palace for both upper and lower kingdoms. A great city will be built here and from it my decree will make this unified land prosperous. You will call this city Memphis. Today a new era begins in this land!" Isis was happy. Everything was going to plan. She even felt the satisfaction of avenging her fathers' death and naming the new city after him!
